PONTUS. Amisus. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Diassarion (?) (Bronze, 24 mm, 10.13 g, 1 h). Diademed head of Apollo (?) to right, below, [monogram]. Rev. AMIΣHNΩN The personification of Amisus (?) standing right, holding diadem (or sistrum?), facing Roma (?) standing left, holding spear and shield. RPC I 2144. SNG von Aulock 6733. Rare and unusually attractive. Very fine.


RPC dates this issue to the Augustean era based on the spelling of the ethnic, but the fabric and the lack of date indicates that it might be of a somewhat earlier period.
